Outdoor Signage – Business Identity Signs

Being a top end manufacturer in Australia I know what it takes to create visual icons which strand the test o time. The correct material needs to be used for the outdoor environment.

Don’t think that cost is everything becuase when the paint fades in year 3, you will be regretting the cheap quote to accepted.

Letters raised on pins

letters mounted on pins
Letters in mdf spray painted and mounted on pins to float off the wall

Mdf Letters spray painted like a car with a perfect 2 pak finish. We have used metallic paint for the purple to give it a super special shine. Once the letters are produced we mount pins int he back of the units to allow them to act as stand-off’s. Raised letters really add a whole new level of class with feature wall signs. They need to be placed in locations which are not really accessible to the public as people like to tamper with them.   Visit out USA site to order yours online www.ispace.us.com

Neon Sign packed for inter-state transport

Neon sign packed for transport
Sing Star Neon Sign packed for inter-state transport - A custom box has been made to do the job

While manufacturing a very fancy neon sign for Sony Australia , the one main concern was how was the sign going to be transported around. We custom made a timber box. It was a low cost type of timber to keep the cost down. We made sure the sign fitted very snug and added in timber so the sign could not slide around the box. The sign was completely wired so all they had to do was install the sign with care. Neon can be very difficult to move around as it’s glass. Once the neon is broken the sign does not operate so care needs to be taken when moving neon signage around. Fragile stickers were placed on the outside of the box lid. Lightbox with Led’s for the Australian Government

lightbox with led's
200mm deep lightbox with led lighting - to save energy

This is 1 of 3 very large light boxes which we custom made for the Gove District Hospital. The main aim of the project was to create energy saving lightboxes as led’s have become a very smart way of illuminating signage with less consumption of power. It was the main concern of the hospital as going green has become a huge part of how Australians now live. We created the light box using  200mm thick aluminum extrusion which was then powder coated white. The led’s were fitted in the box 130mm apart to create a perfectly even light source. We then used a translucent vinyl in red and blue for the graphics. Below is a picture of the finished sign.

Full perspex light box

full perspex light box - even illumination
A full perspex light box with 3 dimensional letters stuck on the face. Ceiling mounted in a shopping center

Ice white light box made of full perspex – what a clean look. The internal illumination has t8 fluorescent tubing which evenly illuminates the box. The boxes are typically 200mm thick. You don’t want to make the boxes too thin as they look great when they slightly thicker. In the picture above the lettering has been done in a 3 dimensional manner. Oftern we digitally print the graphics and apply the graphics to the face. Or we sometimes use translucent vinyl. We also fabricate letters which get stuck the face of the sign if we want a more 3 dimensional look. The clients who go for this option are often more open minded to change. They willing to push the boundaries slightly with experimenting as the result of the light box is often unknown until it’s in reality.  The result is normally out of this world. The only drawback is the box needs to be clean inside maybe once a year as dirt and dead insects do arrive with time.

The perspex is an outdoor material so the boxes can go outside. For something a little more unique think outside the normal scope of the aluminum range  of light boxes and go for something a little different. We make these signs in a  cube shape too. They are hung from the ceiling where no attachments are seen so they look really neat. Order your full perspex lightbox today at www.ispace.com.au

3D full Perspex designs work well because they stand out. After being digitally designed and printed, full Perspex signs and signage can be appended to walls, shop fronts, bay window areas or attached to display light boxes. Illuminated full Perspex counters can also be handcrafted and custom-made to suit the client’s needs. Glow lights from various light sources are used to turn full Perspex counters into brightly coloured displays that are certain to attract a customer’s attention. With all these design possibilities, there is little wonder that recessed illuminated full Perspex signs and signage have gained in popularity.

Glass Signs with 3 dimensional letters applied to the face of the sign

glass signs with 3 dimensional lettering
Custom spray painted 3 dimensional lettering applied to glass - what an amzing looking result.

Glass signs give a really upmarket look to your signage. Glass had distinctive characteristics about the look. The gloss shine with the polished edges gives a fantastic look right away – topped off with really beautiful 3 dimensional letters which are perfectly spray painted.  The result is world class signage. We first laser cut the logo in 16 or 25 mm mdf and custom spray the logo / letters according the there pms colours. Once the letters are dry we use a special double sided tape to mount the lettering to the glass itself. We sometimes use a frosting on the glass or even a vinyl colour to give the glass a unique colour look. Once the sign has been made we use stainless steel bolts to attach the sign to the wall. The stainless steel bolts are available in a range of sizes , 19mm , 25mm , 32mm , 50mm – they can be attached to gype rock or concrete walls. The end result is awesome – especially for a corporate office sign , reception sign , identity in a cafe , doctors rooms , accounting or law practice. We have turned around a good few hundred of these types of signs.

slim lightboxes custom made

slim line lightboxes - custom made any size and colour
anodized aluminium slim lightboxes with magnetic stuck on faces, we made any size.

Slim lighboxes are the way the market in Australia has gone in retail shopping centers. So why has this style of light box become so popular? Firstly they look great! Also most like plasma screens , they can be made single or double sided. The images are simple to change by opening the face of the signs with  suction cap and changing the graphics in minutes. The aluminum extrusion looks very classy. They have t5 fluorescent which power the lighting source from the sides of the units. Special reflectors are places in the sides of the box which allow the lighting to spread into the light box to form an even distribution of light. We use a special diffusion panel on the inside to ensure the light is spread uni-formally through the box. They are 44mm or 53mm thick so they don’t take up much space. The can wall mounted , ceiling hung or hung in the windows of stores. There is also a lock-able version which is specially created for outdoor use.  The slim light boxes are more expensive than the normal 150mm thick light boxes but they sure do look like a premium product.

Some of the features/benefits of these units include:

  • magnetic strips used to securely hold graphics in place;
  • sign face retention system locks the cover in place firmly;
  • a hard, clear acrylic front cover protects your prints/posters from scratches and grime;
  • You can change your posters easily from the front at any time using the suction cap provided. Aluminium extrusion can be powder-coated to colour match;
  • T5 lamps used produce greater light and are more efficient than normal flouros;
  • Acrylic core spreads light evenly throughout the surface;
  • Lightbox can be mounted on a wall or suspended from a ceiling via the optional hanging kit;

Engraved brass plaques with paint fill

Engraved Brass Plaques with paint fill
polished to a mirror finish - engraved brass plaque for doctors room

Brass plaques have a timeless appearance. They are extremely popular with doctors room and the like. We create brass plaques in the following way. First we water-jet cut the brass to the required size. We then either polish the brass to a mirror finish or we linish the mill finish brass. Once we have the piece of brass ready we engrave the name onto the plaque using special engraving machines. The engraving machine engraves into the brass so it’s a permanent marking. We then paint fill the engraved section with outdoor 2 pak paint. This is done by filling the engraved sections and wiping down the paint with a thinners to remove all excess paint. The result is very smart. Once this has dryed we then coat the brass engraved plaque in a clear lakka. It’s to protect the plaque from oxidation – a natural process with tarnishes the plaque from the outdoor atmosphere. if you interested in having a brass engraved plaque created contact us www.ispace.us.com

Polished stainless steel letters

polished stainless steel letters - to a chrome look
5mm laser cut polished stainless steel letters - mounted on pins / for a reception area sign in North Sydney

Stainless Steel is a fantastic material to use when creating top of the range signage. It’s used for internal and external signage projects. When using it internal we normally use a 304 grade, while externally we use a 316 grade stainless steel so it does not rust.

The process of creating signage in this manner is first by having the logo in an eps format. It’s then laser cut in a mill finish stainless steel. Once the letters are in reality ( we have used 5mm stainless steel in this case becuase when you weld pins onto the back of the letters it can mark the face of the letter from the heat of the welding.) the letters are then polished by hand using special machines and rubber compound. Once the letters are polished an engeneering company welds the pins on the rear of the letters. So it’s a process where 3 completely different methods are used to create the final product. It normally takes us around 14 days to produce these signs.

They are regarded as a top of the range form of signage and will last almost forever. If you have a logo which you require in polished stainless steel signage and letters – feel free to contact our company. www.ispace.us.com – these letters are available to purchase online via our e-commerce site.
